PoVa Benefit Trail Challenge

PoVa’s Benefit Trail Challenge did not disappoint as it was a great opportunity for PoVa riders. Several of our students were excited to have the opportunity to compete in a horse show. This event had 98 entries in divisions which included courses for leadline, novice and seasoned riders.  Our students proudly showed off their riding skills to a large audience and then enjoyed watching the exciting  competition.

Home Run at Kaminski’s

On June 6th Kaminski’s Sports Lounge and The Grateful Dads & Friends hosted a fabulous fundraiser in support of our therapeutic riding program. Guests enjoyed delicious food and live performances by The Grateful Dads & Friends! During the live auction, both the private airplane ride and tequila tasting had people bidding left and right. The success of this event will help PoVa to continue to change lives one ride at a time!

Running to Success!

The 2nd Annual PoVa 5K was a true testament of how much love and support PoVa has from its families, volunteers, staff, students and, most importantly, our supporters — including you! The run had over 100 registered participants, 75+ donors and raised over $13,000 for our program. We’re excited about the run’s success and keeping the momentum going as we continue forward in our 2015 fundraising campaign. Our thanks to everyone that spread the word, signed up, raised money, donated and even ran in the rain to show your support of PoVa

Wine and Cheese with Devora and Friends

On November 8th PoVa’s riders demonstrated their riding skills at a neighborhood fundraiser. Long time friend and supporter of PoVa, Devora Garrison and her friend Sandy Webb hosted the event to raise money for our organization. It is supporters like Devora and all of her friends that are crucial to our program’s operations! They are what allow us to offer therapeutic riding lessons to individuals with special needs. A huge thank you to Devora and Sandy for hosting such a fun and successful fundraiser for PoVa!

Horse Show/Family Inclusion

Last July PoVa hosted our first Horse Show/Family Inclusion Week where parents and siblings had the opportunity to ride together. Over the course of four beautiful summer evenings we had over 100 riders demonstrate their skills. Fans of our students and families all cheered them on while enjoying dinner and the festivities. The National Charity League came out to support by hosting face painting, bracelet making, a bean bag toss, and among many other things a horse painting booth. It was the first time that PoVa was able to offer an opportunity for students and family members to share in a riding experience, that we are sure created lasting memories to share.

Day at the Ranch

Winter Session ended with a bang, at our annual Day at the Ranch event. This year’s theme, “Horse Show Preparation,” meant activities that would ready riders for the show ring. Students learned to braid manes and tails, wrap legs, and more.  A few daredevils even took a vaulting lesson (horseback gymnastics on a vaulting barrel).  At the photo booth, students got to dress up in real horse show attire, like hunt caps, show coats, western hats, and cowboy boots. Others explored the horse trailer, filled water buckets, and – always the surprising favorite – mucked a stall!

PoVa 5-K Run/Walk

Thank you to Road Runner Sports for making this event possible! The participation of our runners and supporters in the PoVa 5-K Run/Walk (Jan. 26, 2014)  raised more than $4,000 to subsidize our lesson program.
